Cadence Mastery Your Guide to Efficient Running

I’m going to talk about running cadence.

What do I mean by that?

That means the number of steps that you take in a minute.

Why is that important?

The higher the cadence, you should be aiming to be running around 160 steps per minute, because it reduces the time that your feet are on the ground.

Lessening the pressure on your knees and other joints.

It also means that you will run in a better style because you will have to run more upright.

Again, all about reducing injury.

If you’re a bit of a plodder and you’re thinking, how can I increase my cadence?

A couple of tips.

One thing is you can buy metronomes or lots of people use smart watches, where it will have a built-in metronome and you can set that to that number of steps per minute and then run or jog or whatever to that beat.

I do recommend using a playlist.

You can look on Spotify and Apple Music.

You can actually get a playlist, which is designed for so many steps per minute.

They are really good because you don’t even have to think about it.

It helps you automatically run to that cadence.

Give it a try, see if it improves yourself.
